Over and over on this blog we have warned young people to be careful about what they post on social networking websites. We have used many examples of people being fired, passed over for jobs or placement as roommates or just plain embarassed by material they have posted.

It is one thing if a blog writer is saying, but what happens when the President of the United States (the leader of the free world) Barack Obama says it? Well, hopefully people will listen.

While speaking to a students earlier this week the president (according to an Associated Press article) told the students to:

“Be careful what you post on Facebook. Whatever you do, it will be pulled up again later somewhere in your life.”

Let’s hope children of all ages listen. Although one wonders why he singled out Facebook and didn’t mention MySpace and others …
