Do you sometimes just feel that the Internet is just one big album of inappropriate photos?

From MySpace and Facebook profile pics to stars without clothes, you can pretty much find photos of anyone without clothes on. High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens was a huge Internet star when people want looking for pics she sent to her boyfriend. When Hannah Montana singer/actor Miley Cyrus took some risque photos for Vanity Fair, people headed to their keyboards to sneak a peak before the magazine hit the news stands. In its Olympic coverage, NBC mentioned that nude photos of French swimmer Laure Manaudou were leaked onto the Internet.

It is only natural that searches for U.S. Republican vice-presidential presumptive candidate Sarah Palin have increased as many are curious about the surprise GOP running mate. However, according to Google Trends, some of those searches are coming with the words “nude” and “hot” attached.

It is a good reminder that people don’t just use the Internet to look up information. As parents, we need to be diligent about addressing what is appropriate online. We need to be aware of what our children are looking for and what they are posting on the Internet. We need to warn them about decisions they might regret later and which could have an impact on their lives.

  1. What's wrong with nude photos? Did you know that in certain European contries (such as Germany) it is normal to have mixed nude bathing spaces? People think very little of nudity (which as an English person found a little shocking at first, but got used to it after a while). They do *not* associated nudity with ***.

What is concerning is why so many people want to download pictures of other people with no clothes on. i.e. what's the big deal about seeing nude people?

What is far more worriying is the prospect of my children seeing pornography, which in effect conditions the viewer to regard the degredation of women as normal.
