Worried that you are invading your children’s Internet privacy? A recent arrest might prove that parents are right to keep a close eye on their’s kids’ online behaviour.
On Tuesday, a 51-year-old, Airdrie, Alberta, Canada man was arrested for Internet luring. Parents were monitoring their child’s Net usage and found what they considered to be “concerning” material. They alerted the authorities. A meeting was arranged between the man and the child and when he arrived, he was nabbed.
The matter is still being investigated. The man has not been formally charged, according to media reports, and his name is not being released. Authorities are also not yet releasing the sex or age of the youth involved.
So, as parents, what do you do? Do you monitor closely? Do you check the Internet history sometimes and speak often to your children about the potential pitfalls online?
