Have you ever been told “you never know who is watching?” Thanks to the Internet, EVERYBODY might be watching. NFL star Vince Young found that out recently.
Young earned headlines, and not just on the sports pages, when a shirtless photo of him holding what appears to be alcohol showed up on the Internet. The pic was taken at an Austin, Texas club. A number of the current Tennessee Titans quarterback’s former University of Texas teammates were also on hand. The photo was first posted on Blogxilla.com and then such sites a tmz.com
When the photo, taken by a female at the event, surfaced, Young was quick to apologize for young fans.
“I apologize to some of the young kids if they did see it, because I am trying to be a role model for them. But at the same time, I was just trying to have fun….”
The incident brings up an interesting point about our society and the online world. Even if you are not posting, you could end up with Internet infamy. One of my friends recently told me her teenage son says “when the (camera) phones come out, I get out of there.”
This is good advice. It is important to speak to your children about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In today’s world, it is important to make sure you are not even linked to something that might make you look bad. In fact, Young’s marketing agent is so concerned about potential false claims, he discourages his clients from taking photos with women or even holding a baby.
Just some food for thought …
