Unsolicited Plug!
One of my all time favorite source of security related information is Paul Asadoorian’s website, http://www.pauldotcom.com. It is a site chock-full of information regarding the security field. The focal point is their weekly podcast, where Paul Asadoorian and “Uncle” Larry Pesce discuss everything security related, all the while guzzling back some strange micro-brewery beers.
They have guests on the pod cast that rank high amongst the “who’s who” of security, such as H.D. Moore (metasploit), Fyodor (Nmap), Josh Wright (wifi ninja!) to name just a few. This is security talk, for security specialists, by security specialists. You might think that it would be very complicated, but they manage to stay approachable, informative, and throw in a dash of humor, to keep things entertaining. There is also a weekly tech segment where they cover tools, labs, and various projects that they attempt. They have an IRC channel, a wiki, the website, forums… All in all, a plethora of security goodness.
Every single episode that I’ve listened to, and I have been listening for a while now, has taught me something, showed me a new security tool, demonstrated a new technique, or kept me up to date on the latest in the security arena.
I heartily recommend giving them a listen, and they didn’t even pay me for the plug!
